Hot Springs Cove GetawayOVERNIGHT
Scheduled Flight | $375 per person (round trip) + Camping fees *All prices are subject to a 5% sales tax and an 8% fuel surcharge. Take a dip in the west coast’s famous natural hot springs, where standing under the upper waterfall can be the massage of the century. The natural rock pools below the waterfall descend toward the sea where tidal flows mix with the hot sulphur water, providing a variety of temperatures. A short 2.2 km walk from the dock through the ancient rainforest on a boardwalk is part of the experience that makes a visit to this area truly unforgettable.
Hot Springs Cove is part of the Maquinna Marine Provincial Park, and has day-use facilities, such as toilets, picnic areas, etc. There are also a few wilderness camping spots that are available located just North of the government dock, if you wish to stay the night. Please note this is a private campground, which is operated by the Hesquiat First Nation. Camping is not permitted on the Openit Peninsula portion of the park where the hot springs are located. For more information on the park and camping, please visit bcparks.ca/parks/maquinna-marine/ |
MORE IDEAS...
Atleo Air has no shortage of ideas to explore old growth rainforests, alpine meadows, miles of empty beaches or sea caves. Come explore Vancouver Island!
Flores Island - Walk The Wildside Trail1 – 3 DAYS
The Wildside Trail offers the best beach hikes in Clayoquot Sound. Located on Flores Island, the trail starts at Ahousaht, a small native community, and ends in the spectacular Cow Bay. The trail can also be accessed by a beach drop-off at Whitesands Cove. It is a relatively easy hike with some board walk trail sections joining the beaches. Each beach faces a slightly different direction, giving them all their own unique personality. Cow Bay is a popular hang-out for Grey Whales, cows and calves can be seen very close to the beach.

Buttle Lake To Bedwell Sound2 – 3 DAYS
This hike has everything. Start your ascent at Buttle Lake, travel up through the rainforest to the alpine areas of Bedwell lake and the headwaters of the Bedwell river, hiking through Strathcona Park most of the way. Descending through the Bedwell River Valley, an area rich in beauty and history, there are old gold mines and canyons with suspension bridges waiting to be explored. Also keep an eye out for the abundance of wildlife including elk.

Nootka Island Trail5 – 7 DAYS
One of our favorites! Usually done in 5-7 days but can be completed in 3 if you are a super hero who doesn’t like to kick back. The flight along the coast is worth it alone. Nootka Island offers beaches, caves, waterfalls, wildlife, and lots of local culture. The hike starts at a lagoon on the west end and finishes up at Friendly Cove (Captain Cook was here!). There are small fees collected at the end of the hike by the First Nation residents of Friendly Cove.

Escalante-Estevan Boat Basin6 – 7 DAYS
This is a hike for the experienced; not a well recognized trail, but a great shoreline hike. Starting at the beaches by the Escalante River venture through rocky shelves, past the lighthouse at Estevan, through the old Hesquiaht native village, and on to the pristine beaches of Boat Basin. Stop and visit the homestead of Cougar Annie, a testament to the true west coast legend. Also, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for glass balls along the way, don't let these beach treasures slip by.
Beach landings for your pick up and drop off locations make this hikes' timing very weather dependent. |
